Quick Start Guide for Real Estate Agents

Welcome to ListHouze. This guide is designed to take you from zero to your first published listing in under five minutes. By the end of these six steps, you will have a fully configured agent profile, a live property listing syndicated to your MLS, social media accounts connected for automatic posting, and a personalized dashboard ready to track your performance.

Before you begin, make sure you have the following items ready: a valid email address, your real estate license number, your MLS credentials (board name and login), at least ten high-resolution property photos, and login credentials for any social media accounts you want to connect. Having these on hand will ensure you can move through each step without interruption.

Estimated Time

Most agents complete this entire quick start in four to six minutes. If you already have an account, skip ahead to Step 2 to complete your agent profile.

  1. 1

    Create Your ListHouze Account

Navigate to listhouze.com/signup and click the Get Started Free button in the center of the page. You will see a registration form asking for your full name, email address, and a password. Enter your details and click Create Account. ListHouze will send a verification email to the address you provided — open that email and click the Verify Email button to activate your account.

Once verified, you will be redirected to the onboarding wizard. On the first screen, select Real Estate Agent as your account type. This selection determines which features and dashboard layout you see, so make sure you choose the correct role. If you are part of an agency that already has a ListHouze account, your agency administrator may have sent you an invitation link instead — use that link to join the existing agency workspace rather than creating a standalone account.

After selecting your role, you will be asked to choose your subscription plan. The free Starter plan includes up to five active listings and one connected social media account. The Professional plan at $29 per month unlocks unlimited listings, all five social media platforms, the AI Writing Assistant, and advanced analytics. You can upgrade at any time from your account settings, so feel free to start with Starter if you want to explore the platform first.

  2. 2

    Complete Your Agent Profile

After account creation, the onboarding wizard takes you directly to the Agent Profile setup page. You can also access this later from Settings > Profile in the left sidebar. Your agent profile is public-facing — buyers and other agents will see this information when they view your listings or search the agent directory, so take a moment to fill it out thoroughly.

Start with the Basic Information section. Upload a professional headshot by clicking the circular avatar placeholder at the top of the form. ListHouze accepts JPG and PNG files up to 5 MB. Below that, enter your professional headline (e.g., "Luxury Home Specialist — Miami-Dade County"), your real estate license number, your brokerage name, and the state where you are licensed. The license number field includes automatic verification against state licensing databases, so enter it exactly as it appears on your license.

Next, complete the Contact & Bio section. Add your direct phone number, your preferred contact email (this can differ from your login email), and your website URL if you have one. The bio text field supports up to 2,000 characters. Write a brief summary of your experience, specializations, and the areas you serve. If you want help writing your bio, click the Generate with AI button to the right of the text field — the AI Writing Assistant will draft a professional bio based on the information you have already entered on the form.

Finally, set your Service Areas by typing city names or zip codes into the location search field. You can add up to twenty service areas. These locations are used to match you with buyer leads in your market, so be specific about the neighborhoods and communities where you actively work.

  3. 3

    Connect Your MLS

With your profile complete, the next step is connecting your MLS account so that listings you create in ListHouze are automatically syndicated to your local Multiple Listing Service. From the onboarding wizard, click Connect MLS to open the MLS integration panel. You can also find this later under Settings > Integrations > MLS.

On the MLS connection page, start by selecting your MLS board from the dropdown menu. ListHouze supports over 580 MLS boards across the United States and Canada through our RESO Web API integration. Type the first few letters of your board name to filter the list. Once selected, you will see fields for your MLS Agent ID and MLS password. Enter your credentials and click Authenticate. ListHouze establishes a secure, encrypted connection to your board using the RETS or RESO Web API protocol — your credentials are encrypted at rest and never visible to ListHouze staff.

After authentication, ListHouze performs a sync test to confirm the connection is active. This process takes approximately ten to thirty seconds. If successful, you will see a green checkmark and the message "MLS Connected Successfully." Your existing MLS listings will begin importing in the background and will appear in your Listings dashboard within a few minutes, depending on the size of your portfolio.

    MLS Connection Requirements

Some MLS boards require agents to submit a Data Feed Authorization form before third-party platforms like ListHouze can access their data. If you see an authorization error during the connection process, contact your MLS board to request third-party access approval. ListHouze provides a pre-filled authorization letter that you can download from the error screen and submit to your board. This process typically takes one to three business days.

  4. 4

    Create Your First Listing

Now that your MLS is connected, it is time to create your first property listing. Click Listings in the left sidebar and then click the + New Listing button in the upper-right corner of the Listings page. This opens the listing creation wizard, which guides you through every required field in a logical sequence.

On the first screen, select the Property Type — options include Single Family, Condo/Townhome, Multi-Family, Land/Lot, and Commercial. Next, enter the property address. ListHouze uses address auto-complete powered by Google Places, so start typing and select the correct match from the dropdown. The platform automatically populates the city, state, zip code, and county fields based on your selection.

Continue through the wizard to enter property details: bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, lot size, year built, and listing price. When you reach the Description field, click the Generate with AI button to have the AI Writing Assistant draft a compelling property description based on the details you have entered. You can choose from four tone presets — Professional, Conversational, Luxury, or Investment — and edit the result before moving on. Upload at least ten photos (the platform supports up to fifty) and optionally add a virtual tour URL. Finally, review the preview and click Publish. Your listing will go live on ListHouze and begin syndicating to your connected MLS within minutes.

  5. 5

    Set Up Social Media Auto-Posting

With your first listing published, let us make sure it gets maximum exposure on social media. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Social Media or click the Connect Social Media prompt that appears after publishing your listing. ListHouze supports five platforms: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X (Twitter).

Click the Connect button next to each platform you want to use. Each connection uses OAuth, which means you will be redirected to the platform's own login page to authorize ListHouze. You never enter your social media passwords into ListHouze directly. For Facebook, make sure you connect a Business Page rather than a personal profile — auto-posting is not available for personal accounts. For Instagram, you need a Professional account (Business or Creator) linked to a Facebook Page.

Once connected, enable the Auto-Post on Publish toggle for each platform. This tells ListHouze to automatically generate and publish a social media post whenever you create a new listing or update the status of an existing one. You can customize the post template for each platform under Social Media > Templates. The default template includes the listing photo, price, address, a brief description excerpt, and a link back to your ListHouze listing page.

  6. 6

    Review Your Dashboard

You have done it — your account is set up, your profile is complete, your MLS is connected, your first listing is live, and your social media accounts are ready to go. Now head to the Dashboard by clicking the home icon in the left sidebar or the ListHouze logo at the top of the page.

Your dashboard displays four summary cards at the top: Active Listings, Total Leads, Pending Tasks, and Revenue This Month. Since you just created your first listing, the Active Listings card should show "1." Below the summary cards, you will see the Activity Feed showing real-time updates about your account — listing publication confirmations, social media post statuses, and incoming lead notifications will all appear here as they happen.

Explore the rest of the dashboard at your own pace. The Quick Actions panel on the right provides one-click shortcuts to your most common tasks: create a listing, schedule a social post, view your lead pipeline, and generate a report. The Performance Chart in the center of the page displays listing views, inquiries, and engagement trends over time. You can adjust the date range using the dropdown in the chart header. Finally, the Upcoming Events calendar at the bottom shows any open houses, showings, or follow-up tasks you have scheduled.
