Creating a Property Listing

This guide walks you through creating a new property listing on ListHouze. Listings are created as drafts and can be published once all required fields are completed.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to My Listings in the agent portal sidebar.
  2. Click the New Listing button in the top-right corner.
  3. You will be taken to the listing creation form, which is organised into tabbed sections.

Warning

The New Listing button is only available to agents who have been approved. If your account is pending approval, you will not see this option.

Form Sections

The listing creation form is divided into the following tabs:

  • Details — Core property information (address, type, pricing, rooms)
  • Description — Headline and property description text
  • Features — Property features organised by category
  • Media — Photos, videos, virtual tours, floor plans, and documents
  • Settings — Offer settings, sale method, rental fields, and open home scheduling

Property Details

Address Fields

When you select an address from the autocomplete suggestions, the suburb, state, postcode, and country fields are populated automatically. The property is also geocoded (latitude/longitude) for map display.

Property Category

Properties are organised into four categories:

Each category contains specific property types:

Residential: Apartment, House, Townhouse, Unit, Villa, Retirement Living, Bach/Holiday Home

Rural: Rural Property, Bare Land, Section

Lifestyle: Lifestyle with Dwelling, Lifestyle Bare Land

If no price information is provided, the listing displays "POA" (Price on Application).


Description

Headline

A required field that serves as the main title of the listing. This is the first thing buyers see in search results and on the property detail page. Keep it compelling and descriptive.

Property Description

A free-text field for the full property description. This supports multi-line text and should include details about the property's features, location benefits, and selling points.

Property Features

Features are organised into four collapsible categories. Select all that apply by ticking the relevant checkboxes.

LINZ Property Lookup: New Zealand listings include an automatic lookup against Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) data. When you enter a street address and suburb, the system can retrieve land area, title number, legal description, and territorial authority information.


Sale Method and Auction Settings

Offer Settings

You can control how offers work on your listing:

  • Accept Offers — Enable or disable the online offer submission form on the listing page.
  • Show Offers Closed Message — When offers are turned off, optionally display a message indicating offers are closed.
  • Hide Offers Section — Completely remove the offers section from the listing page.

These settings can be changed at any time via the Offers Settings dialog.


Rental Fields

When the listing type is set to Rent, the following additional fields appear:

Open Home Scheduling

You can pre-schedule open home times directly from the create listing form:

  • Add open home date/time entries using the scheduling interface.
  • Mark the listing as available for private inspections.
  • Open homes can also be managed after creation from the dedicated Open Homes page.

Creating a Sold Listing

You can create a listing that is immediately marked as Sold by enabling the "Create as Sold" option. When enabled, additional fields appear:

Sold listings are not published to the public search but appear in your listing history and agency profile.


Autosave and Form Persistence

  • Autosave: Your listing data is automatically saved to the database every 30 seconds once you have entered a headline and street address.
  • Form Persistence: Form data is also saved to your browser's local storage, so if you accidentally close the tab or your session expires, you can resume where you left off.
  • Unsaved Changes Warning: If you try to navigate away with unsaved changes, you will receive a browser warning.

Publishing a Listing

After saving, your listing is in Draft status. To make it live:

  1. Return to My Listings.
  2. Click the Publish button on the draft listing.
  3. The system checks your publish eligibility (subscription plan and listing limits).
  4. If eligible, the listing status changes to Active and it becomes visible in search results.
  5. If you have reached your listing limit, a paywall modal will prompt you to upgrade your plan or purchase additional listings.
